(NEW YORK) February 5, 2019 – Robert Evans III, who most recently served as a senior official in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance, has joined Locke Lord’s New York office as a Partner in the Firm’s nationally recognized Corporate Practice Group. Evans is a veteran corporate and securities lawyer who will expand Locke Lord’s capital markets capabilities in New York and across the Firm.
“Rob is a first-class professional and is highly respected as a quality lawyer by his peers,” said Locke Lord Senior Partner Stan Keller, a preeminent leader in his field who is nationally recognized as having shaped the development of corporate and securities laws. “Rob brings to Locke Lord a wealth of experience in capital markets, securities offerings and corporate advice, and he is an invaluable resource on deals, SEC issues and opinions. We are thrilled to add a lawyer of his caliber to the Firm.”
Evans, who was a Partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP for more than two decades in the firm’s capital markets practice, focuses his practice in corporate and securities law and has extensive experience representing issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings of securities.
“I’ve had the pleasure to work closely with, and across from, a number of Locke Lord’s attorneys for several years and have always been impressed with the breadth and depth of the Firm. Locke Lord’s strong platform combined with its well-regarded Corporate team was extremely attractive to me because it allows me to utilize my extensive private practice experience and background with the SEC on domestic and international capital raising and regulatory matters to continue building my practice alongside highly skilled lawyers,” said Evans.
A frequent speaker and writer on securities law, compliance and legal ethics, Evans is a member of the American Law Institute and the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Johns Hopkins Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
