On January 18, 2023, following a week-long jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas,
Charles Baker,
Chris Dove,
Ryan Dornberger,
Emily Hoy,
Emma Bennett (all of Houston) and
Tucker Davison (Dallas) secured a jury verdict for the Firm’s client Hunting Titan, Inc., finding that its perforating systems did not infringe one remaining asserted patent and awarding DynaEnergetics zero damages. Hunting Titan was sued by one of its competitors DynaEnergetics, US, Inc., and DynaEnergetics Europe GmbH, for patent infringement on two patents covering the sale and manufacture of perforating guns — downhole oilfield equipment used throughout the United States to produce oil and gas. In an order of summary judgment in September 2022, the accused Hunting Titan was found not to infringe on one of the two asserted patents. After hearing the evidence, the jury concluded that Hunting Titan’s perforating guns did not infringe any claim of the remaining patent. Additional support was provided by
Steve Boyd and
Daniel Nguyen (both of Houston).
