Compliance Considerations for Potential Texas Privacy Law

Houston Partner Laura L. Ferguson co-authored an article featured as an “Expert Analysis” in Law360. The article summarizes the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act’s (TDPSA) requirements, compares the TDPSA's requirements to other state privacy laws and provides compliance steps that businesses operating in Texas should follow to prepare for compliance with the TDPSA. The authors note that if the TDPSA is signed into law, the majority of the TDPSA will go into effect on July 1, 2024.

“The TDPSA is intended to be a comprehensive regime for how consumers and companies interact with personal data‎, and will require substantial operational changes from businesses within Texas,” said Ferguson.
