Deletion Completion Under the CCPA

Chicago Partner Molly McGinnis Stine, a member of the Steering Committee of Locke Lord’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group, co-authored an article for The Computer & Internet Lawyer examining the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and a consumer’s right to request deletion of personal information under the CCPA. Stine encourages covered businesses to provide a written confirmation when a deletion request has been completed as this may “satisfy internal audit requirements for documentation that deletion was complete, or to establish compliance for potential litigation, enforcement or regulatory proceedings.”
