Richard Reibstein, co-head of Locke Lord’s Independent Contractor Misclassification and Compliance Practice, was quoted by Law360 about an appeal taken by Uber, Postmates and several workers before the Ninth Circuit, arguing California's independent contractor classification law infringes on their constitutional rights. Reibstein said, “the variety of arguments [by many different stakeholders] tells me that Assembly Bill 5 was not set on a firm legal foundation but it became the law of California, and it has had unintended consequences that are fairly regarded as unacceptable."
