Bast, who also serves as Chair of Locke Lord’s Affordable Housing Practice Group, said the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of affordable housing for vulnerable households, referring to the significant role it plays in “keeping families stable, keeping children in school and protecting people."

She also noted that despite making strides in the industry, women attorneys are less likely to make equity partnerships, which Locke Lord hopes to help change. Alongside newly appointed Dallas Office Managing Partner Elizabeth Mack and Houston Office Managing Partner Laura Edrington, Bast is part of the first trio of women to lead the Firm’s Texas offices simultaneously.

“I think having three women who have each built and maintained a specialized practice area and have been great leaders in their offices is a wonderful thing to show the rest of the country," she said.
