December 5, 2018 – Locke Lord has promoted seven lawyers across five of the Firm’s offices (Chicago, Dallas, Hartford, Houston and New York) to Partnership level, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Two of the new Partners are diverse, highlighting Locke Lord’s continued commitment to its core values of diversity and equality.
The lawyers represent the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Consumer Finance, Private Equity and Venture Capital, Real Estate and Real Estate Finance and Regulatory and Transactional Insurance Practice Groups.
The new Partners are:
David Standa concentrates his practice in business and consumer finance litigation, with additional experience in corporate, securities and regulatory assistance, food and beverage compliance and litigation, and health care litigation. He has represented clients in health insurance reimbursement disputes as well as insurers and hospital systems in cases involving complex issues surrounding the business of insurance, insurance regulatory matters, Medicare/Medicaid disputes and False Claims Act litigation. He is also a member of the Firm’s Food & Beverage Industry Group and has defended several spirits-industry clients in class actions alleging deceptive labeling and marketing practices.
Michael Wilson represents private equity funds, startups, banks, insurance companies and other public and private businesses in a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, debt finance, venture capital, joint ventures and complex corporate restructurings. He has significant private equity experience, including with small business investment companies (SBICs), representing funds and limited partners in portfolio investments, limited partner investments, fund formation and SBIC licensing. Wilson also has substantial experience representing technology companies, ranging from consumer-facing services to business-oriented platforms. He also regularly handles transactions in the energy, health care, food and beverage and insurtech industries.
Kyle Davis provides counsel to clients in a variety of commercial real estate and finance transactions. She represents financial services companies and other institutional lenders in commercial construction and permanent loans secured by senior health care facilities, multifamily projects, office buildings, retail shopping centers and condominium projects. Davis also has extensive experience in real estate acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, health care, transportation and hospitality transactions, as well as representing developers in connection with the construction and development of multifamily, retail, industrial and mixed-used projects.
Matt Davis handles complex business-related and financial services litigation, including litigation involving mortgage lending practices, state and federal fair debt collection practices, mortgage banking and servicing, consumer protection, credit reporting practices, contract claims and fraud. He also has experience with a variety of class action litigation, including class actions under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, False Claims Act, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and RICO. He has represented clients in federal district court, bankruptcy court, state courts, arbitration and multi-district litigation matters.
Tara Trifon represents corporate and financial services clients in a wide variety of complex disputes at all levels of the state and federal court systems throughout the Northeast. She has significant experience handling business and consumer finance litigation, particularly relating to claims of contract breaches, fraud, negligence or violations of unfair trade practices. Trifon also regularly advises clients relating to insurance disputes, class actions, merger and acquisition issues and regulatory matters. She has been selected as a Rising Star in the areas of Business Litigation and Administrative Law since 2013 by Super Lawyers Magazine.
Kurt Krolikowski is a litigator who represents clients in a broad range of commercial disputes, including consumer finance, energy and construction-related disputes. He has experience prosecuting and defending a broad range of claims in both state and federal court, including breach of contract, fraud, negligence, civil conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duty and various others. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has represented clients before the American Arbitration Association and the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
In New York:
Zachary Lerner maintains a general corporate practice with an emphasis on insurance and reinsurance regulatory and transactional matters. He represents domestic and international insurance companies, insurance agents and brokers, reinsurance intermediaries, adjusters and third party administrators, captives, special purpose vehicles and other related entities in connection with their needs, including, but not limited to, formation, licensing, regulatory compliance, advertising, surplus lines and filing matters. Lerner also works with both insurance and non-insurance entities on an array of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate filings, annual reports and affiliate transactions.
