Locke Lord Public Finance Partner Jennifer Capasso Mendonça Named a 2018 Top Women of Law Honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

July 25, 2018 – Locke Lord’s Jennifer Capasso Mendonça, Public Finance Partner based in the Firm’s Boston office, has been named to the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2018 Top Women of Law list. Mendonça will be presented with the award, which honors those who have made tremendous professional strides and demonstrated great accomplishments in the legal field, including pro bono, social justice, advocacy and business, at a reception on Oct. 18.

This marks the second consecutive year Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has named a Locke Lord lawyer to its Top Women of Law list. Allison O’Neil, also a Partner in Locke Lord’s Boston office, was honored last year. At Locke Lord, O’Neil serves as a member of the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Firm’s Women’s Initiative.

Mendonça serves on the Board of Directors of Greater Boston Legal Services and has been a member of its Finance Committee since 2016, overseeing the management of the organization’s financial assets, capital assets and investments. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Boston Women in Public Finance, Inc. and is a board liaison to the Associate’s Committee, which focuses on ways to engage Boston’s new public finance industry entrants. Additionally, Mendonça is highly involved with the National Association of Bond Lawyers, having served as a panelist at the annual Bond Attorneys’ Workshop (BAW) and Tax and Securities Law Institute conferences since 2010, and currently serving as a member of BAW’s Steering Committee since 2016.

Mendonça focuses her practice exclusively on all aspects of governmental and tax-exempt finance, as bond counsel, borrower's counsel, underwriter's counsel, bank counsel and disclosure counsel in a broad variety of tax-exempt and taxable financings. She has been selected as a leader in her field by Chambers USA since 2015 in Massachusetts Banking and Finance: Public Finance and as a Massachusetts Rising Star by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters publication, every year since 2009. She was also named an Up & Coming Lawyer honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2015.
