Locke Lord’s Nina Huerta Elected President of the Mexican American Bar Foundation

March 8, 2017 – Locke Lord's Nina Huerta, Managing Partner of the Firm's Los Angeles office, has been unanimously elected President of the Mexican American Bar Foundation (MABF).

In this role, Huerta will lead the MABF in its mission to enhance the diversity of the legal profession through education. The organization carries out this mission by supporting young women and men of Latino heritage who are pursuing careers in the law. Huerta has been actively involved in the leadership of the MABF, serving as a trustee since 2015.

“The young women and men the MABF supports have overcome many obstacles to pursue their law degree and are typically the first members of their families to attend law school,” said Huerta. “I am honored to lead the MABF, and I look forward to continue working with our members to contribute to the success of the next generation of Latino leaders through the organization’s robust scholarship and bar stipend programs.”

Huerta became the Firm’s Los Angeles Office Managing Partner in June 2016 and is one of five women to lead a Locke Lord office. She serves as the Chair of Locke Lord’s Women’s Initiative Committee and as a member of its Diversity Committee. She also serves as a member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association.

Huerta focuses her practice on business and employment litigation. She has represented companies in cases involving claims of employment discrimination and harassment, employment misclassification, breach of contract and wage and hour violations. Huerta has assisted clients with defending class actions, including wage and hour class actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and California Labor Code. In addition, Huerta has represented mortgage lenders, servicers and other financial institutions in defending against individual and class action claims for violations of various state and federal laws governing lending and servicing of residential mortgage loans.
