CMS Reinsurance Rule Raises Quota Share Questions

Chicago Partners Jon Biasetti, Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Regulatory and Transactional Insurance Practice Group, and Ben Sykes co-authored an article examining a new rule proposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). In its notice of the new rule, CMS has stated it intends to formally establish reinsurance standards for the Medicare Advantage program in order to remove “any uncertainty on the permitted utilization of reinsurance” by Medicare Advantage Organizations.
