Houston's Mia Lorick and Austin's Carrie Collier-Brown Awarded Best News Article by State Bar of Texas

Houston Partner Mia Lorick and Austin Senior Counsel Carrie Collier-Brown were recognized by the State Bar of Texas as the recipients of the 2021-2022 Best News Article Award. Lorick and Collier-Brown’s co-authored article, “Does ERCOT Have Sovereign Immunity?” discusses whether the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is a government agency with sovereign immunity against lawsuits stemming from Winter Storm Uri. The article, originally published in the Houston Bar Association’s The Houston Lawyer Magazine, was selected for its originality, overall quality of writing and interest to the intended audience. The award was presented at the annual Stars of Texas Bars Awards annual meeting and luncheon on June 9.
