Locke Lord's Ann Ryan Robertson Named Outstanding Business Leader in Law Honoree by Houston Business Journal

(HOUSTON) October 15, 2021Ann Ryan Robertson, C.Arb, FCIArb, International Partner and a member of Locke Lord’s International Arbitration Practice Group, has been named a 2021 Women Who Mean Business Honoree by Houston Business Journal as an Outstanding Business Leader in Law, an honor recognizing Houston’s most successful women and business leaders. She will be honored at an awards luncheon on Oct. 21 at the Marriott Marquis Houston. Finalists were chosen based on criteria including career achievement, contribution to company and city success, community involvement and leadership.

Robertson serves as the global President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the world’s leading qualifications and professional body for dispute avoidance and dispute management. In addition to her role at CIArb, Robertson is a member of the Council of the American Arbitration Association, Chair of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution’s Rules Revision Committee, a member of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, a member of the London Court of International Arbitration and a past member of the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Arbitration. She is also a member of several arbitral institution panels and most recently was selected by the U.S. Department of Trade as one of 10 arbitrators appointed by the United States to serve as a dispute resolution panelist pursuant to Chapter 31 of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Practicing law for over 40 years, Robertson serves as both arbitrator and counsel in international and domestic arbitrations in a variety of complex business disputes across several industries. As counsel, she appears as an advocate, designs dispute resolution mechanisms, enforces arbitral awards and advises and negotiates settlements.

Robertson is also active in supporting the advancement of diversity and inclusion through ArbitralWomen and the Equal Representation of Women in Arbitration Pledge. She has mentored students at the University of Houston Law Center as an Adjunct Professor, and for 19 years she coached its Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot team.
