(BOSTON, CHICAGO and LOS ANGELES) February 17, 2020 – Locke Lord Chicago Partner Julie Webb has been selected as a member of the 2020 Fellows Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), and Associates Jamie Mei Cheng and Walter Rodriguez have been named to LCLD’s Pathfinder Program. Both programs aim to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
According to LCLD, its landmark Fellows Program, established in 2011, is one of its most important initiatives. As a Fellow, Webb will participate in conferences, in-person training and projects with LCLD’s top leadership aimed at increasing leadership and relationship skills for lawyers who are committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The Pathfinder Program, now in its fifth year, targets high-performing associates. Pathfinders receive training in critical career development strategies, including leadership and the building of professional networks.
Webb is Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Chicago office Diversity and Inclusion Committee and a member of the Firm-wide Diversity and Inclusion and Technology Committees. As a member of the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, she represents financial institutions and other corporate clients in class actions and other complex matters nationwide and has extensive experience in all aspects of the litigation process, including early settlement opportunities, motion practice, discovery, trial and appeals.
Based in Locke Lord’s Los Angeles office, Cheng is also a member of the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, focusing her practice on consumer litigation, class actions, products liability, oil and gas, insurance and intellectual property. She has significant experience in business and commercial arbitration, litigation in state and federal court and cross-border and international disputes. Cheng is also a member of the Firm’s Associates Committee.
Rodriguez, based in the Firm’s Boston office, was named to the 2019 Cohort of the Latino Board Fellowship at Latinos for Education and has held leadership positions with the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys and Hispanic National Bar Association. As a member of the Firm’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Practice Group, he represents companies and private equity funds in connection with financings, corporate and securities law matters and M&A.
Locke Lord has a long history of support and participation in LCLD initiatives. Previous Fellows include Chicago Partner Bilal Zaheer, Austin Partner Michelle Earley, Dallas Partner Art Anthony and Chicago Partner Ernesto Palomo. Chicago Associate Wasim Bleibel served as Locke Lord’s first participant in the Pathfinder Program in 2019.
