Hartford Office Managing Partner Ted Augustinos, who is also a member of the steering committee of Locke Lord’s Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group, provided insight for a Law360 article outlining key policy issues in the privacy and cybersecurity space on the horizon in 2019. He called California’s Consumer Privacy Act a “game-changer,” citing its similarities to Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He noted businesses should remain vigilant about their practices in light of the new regulation, saying companies “might have new vendor relationships or new uses of data that require revisiting GDPR to make sure they remain compliant.”
