Locke Lord Chicago Partner Carolyn Blessing This Year’s Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Leadership Award Recipient

(CHICAGO) October 8, 2018 – Carolyn Blessing, a Partner in Locke Lord’s Chicago office, has been selected to receive the 2018 Leadership Award from the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law for her efforts in the advancement of women lawyers and support of women’s initiatives in law firms. She will be honored at the Coalition’s ninth annual Leadership Forum on Thursday. 

Blessing has served in various positions within Chicago’s chapter of the Coalition and is a current Vice President, member of the Executive Committee and Locke Lord’s Board Liaison. She previously held the positions of Treasurer and Co-Chair for the Associates Committee. At Locke Lord, Blessing is the Hiring Partner for the Firm’s Chicago office and a member of its Women’s Initiative Committee. 

In addition to her recognition by the Coalition, Blessing was recently appointed to the Women’s Advisory Board for Chicago Lawyer magazine. She has also been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers for Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical, Intellectual Property and Patent Law and as a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers since 2016. 

Blessing concentrates her practice in IP pharmaceutical matters and Hatch-Waxman litigation. She represents pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in all aspects of federal intellectual property litigation, including pre-litigation activities, Paragraph IV Certifications, filing, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, motion practice, pre-trial, trial, post-trial and appellate phases. She is a member of Chicago Women in IP (ChiWIP), the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the Richard Linn American Inn of Court.

A nonprofit membership association, the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law brings together women in law firms, government and companies of all sizes. The Coalition fosters career advancement and professional development, promotes dialogue and a support network among members, and addresses the many issues facing women lawyers and women’s initiatives today.
