The author writes that the increase in these types of deals illustrates a broader movement of health insurers aligning with physician groups for improvement in overall quality of service and so patient care can be closely monitored. Hanna noted, "Payers want to invest in making sure we have best access to primary care and management for our members with physician groups that are closely aligned with us contractually or through ownership. The hope is that it makes it easier to implement best practices in primary care."
