Chicago Partner Kirk Dillard Authors Chicago Tribune Voice of the People Submission on Public Transit Attracting Millennials to Chicago

June 29, 2018

Locke Lord Chicago Partner Kirk Dillard, who chairs the Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois, authored a letter to the editor on public transit attracting millennials to Chicago although the Illinois state government has cut mass transit funding by hundreds of millions. Dillard said, “In a state and region facing population declines, we should be attempting to keep or attract young workers, as many are also high wage earners, especially in the tech, medical and financial services industries. Mass transit grows the private-sector economy in studies showing $4 in returns for each public $1 invested. Every workday, one-sixth of Illinois’ population, over 2 million riders, take mass transit to work, school, doctor visits or for leisure.”
