Locke Lord Dallas Partner Frank Stevenson Elected to Western States Bar Conference and Texas Bar Foundation Positions

(DALLAS) May 10, 2018 – Locke Lord Dallas Partner Frank Stevenson, Immediate Past President of the State Bar of Texas, has been elected Vice President of the Western States Bar Conference (WSBC) and to the Board of Trustees of the Texas Bar Foundation.

WSBC is a forum for the mutual interchange of ideas among leaders of the 15 WSBC member states. Stevenson will assume the role of President-Elect after serving a one-year term as Vice President and then President the following year, marking only the second time a Texan has led the organization. 

The Texas Bar Foundation was founded in 1965 and solicits charitable contributions and provides funding to enhance the rule of law and justice system in Texas. Stevenson will join the Texas Bar Foundation’s Board of Trustees on June 1. 

Stevenson, who has been with Locke Lord throughout his nearly 40-year legal career, has substantial experience in representing financial institutions, owners, developers and other clients in workout matters, construction lending, permanent financing, equity financings and bond financing. He also represents financial institutions in lending transactions backed by governmental leases and other contracts, as well as sellers and purchasers of improved and unimproved property. His experience also includes extensive work in the transportation field, general counsel representation of government agencies, drafting and negotiating interlocal and interagency agreements, acquisition of right-of-way, drafting legislation and administrative rules, Open Meetings and Open Records representation, drafting procurement contracts, and related work.

In addition to previously serving as President of the State Bar of Texas, Stevenson also served on and chaired its Board of Directors. Additionally, he is the former Chair of the Dallas Bar Foundation and a former President of the Dallas Bar Association.

Stevenson has been honored by legal-aid providers and received presidential citations from the State and Dallas bars. He was the founding chair of award-winning programs to mentor beginning lawyers and to diversify the profession. He holds numerous leadership positions with civic, charitable, arts and educational organizations.
