Chicago Partner Christopher Barth commented on proposed bipartisan legislation currently before an Illinois House committee that would grant legal recognition to blockchain smart contracts. Barth explained if the bill passed, it could change the way business is done in Illinois. He said, “By granting legal recognition to blockchain-based smart contracts, Illinois would jump to the forefront of encouraging the broad application of this technology and resulting efficiencies across all forms of business transactions.”
