(WASHINGTON, D.C.) March 15, 2018 – Locke Lord has won the Children’s Law Center (CLC) 2017 Champions for Children Award, which recognizes the Firm’s longtime support of Washington, D.C.’s most vulnerable children.
CLC is the largest legal services provider in the District of Columbia. The nonprofit fights so every child in the district can grow up with a loving family, good health and quality education. The organization reaches more than 5,000 children and family in the district’s poorest neighborhoods.
Locke Lord lawyers have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to charitable giving and pro bono work to further the efforts of the CLC to improve educational and health outcomes for children. In addition to taking on CLC pro bono cases, the Firm has launched a number of initiatives designed to support diverse students interested in pursuing a legal career, including mentoring students and providing them with real-world experience in a law firm.
“To me, the Locke Lord team represents a true commitment to addressing the root causes which prevent our children from having a solid foundation of family, health and education,” CLC Executive Director Judith Sandalow said. “I am proud to name them a Champion for Children. Their generosity helped thousands of D.C.’s children this past year, and their work to bring diversity to the legal profession will help thousands more achieve their career goals.”
The Champions for Children campaign is spearheaded by CLC’s Advisory Board, which includes more than 30 rising leaders at law firms and corporations in Washington, D.C., including Locke Lord Partner Jennifer Brough.
