Locke Lord Names Corporate and Community Leader Michael Renetzky Chicago Office Managing Partner

February 12, 2018

February 12, 2018 – Michael Renetzky, Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Corporate and Transactional Department and Chair of the Firm’s Finance Committee, has been named Managing Partner of the Firm’s Chicago office. Renetzky will lead more than 125 lawyers in Chicago, one of Locke Lord’s largest offices.

Renetzky succeeds Jennifer Kenedy as leader of the Firm’s Chicago office, a role she held for nearly eight years. As previously announced, Kenedy was recently elected by Locke Lord’s Executive Committee members and Partners as a Vice Chair of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Renetzky is also co-leader of the Firm’s Investment Adviser and Alternative Funds practice and a former member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

“Michael has spent his entire legal career with Locke Lord in Chicago, and his deep ties to the community combined with his excellent business skills and in-depth knowledge of the Firm’s strategic vision make him a natural choice to lead our Chicago office,” said Locke Lord Chair David Taylor. “We are extremely grateful to Jennifer for her leadership of our Chicago office and for her long-standing dedication and commitment to the community. We know Michael will be integral to the office’s continued success.”

Renetzky focuses his practice on investment management, securities and corporate law. He has considerable experience counseling clients on governance matters, securities law compliance, debt and equity financing matters, and investment adviser, investment company and broker-dealer regulation. Additionally, he devotes a substantial portion of his time to representing clients in a variety of transactions, including those of an investment and a strategic nature.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Trees That Feed Foundation, a secular nonprofit dedicated to planting food-bearing trees to feed people, create jobs and benefit the environment. In addition, Renetzky is the Chairman of the Board of Lutheran Life Communities, a faith-based nonprofit system of life plan communities serving seniors and their families. He is President and Chairman of the Board of Lutheran Church of the Atonement. He serves as Secretary of the Board of the Chicago Bible Society and is the 2015 recipient of The Gutenberg Award.

Renetzky received a juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University.
