Ted Augustinos, Hartford Office Managing Partner, Quoted Throughout Mergermarket Cybersecurity Report

Ted Augustinos, a member of the steering committee of the Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group of Locke Lord and Office Managing Partner of the Firm’s Hartford office, was quoted throughout a Mergermarket report, titled “The SEC Breach and the New Age of Cybersecurity.” For the report, Mergermarket interviewed leaders in the cybersecurity field to understand what companies can do to improve their security, and how the SEC and filers should react to the EDGAR breach.

When asked if hackers are becoming more sophisticated, if companies’ systems are becoming more vulnerable, or both, Augustinos noted: “I would say it’s both – there’s no question that the threat landscape continues to evolve with increasingly sophisticated attacks. While defensive technologies, strategies, and techniques are also developing, and more and more companies are improving their cybersecurity profiles, the increased connectivity of systems and availability of data does increase vulnerability.”
