November 7, 2017 – Chambers and Partners, in its recently published Chambers UK 2018 rankings, has named six Locke Lord London lawyers as leading practitioners in their respective practice areas and recognised two UK practice areas.

Robert Courtneidge, the Firm’s Global Head of Cards & Payments, maintained the individual Band 1 ranking from Chambers UK. Courtneidge was highlighted for his extensive experience within the e-money space, regularly advising key international financial institutions and technology providers and being particularly skilled in consumer finance issues. Courtneidge is routinely recognised as a leader in the industry and was recently selected for the sixth consecutive year by the Payments Power 10, a highly competitive ranking of the most influential payments industry contributors.

Locke Lord’s UK Consumer Finance practice, led by Joanne Davis, maintained its UK-wide Band 3 ranking for the second consecutive year. The team was recognised for having “an expert, niche team in asset finance.” Davis maintained a Band 2 individual ranking and was noted as “an excellent technical adviser with pragmatic delivery and in-depth knowledge of the asset finance industry.” The Firm’s UK Asset & Consumer Finance Group was recently named the Top Asset Finance Team of the Year by Leasing World at its 2017 Leasing World Awards.

In addition to Davis, London Partner Kevin Heath was also recommended by Chambers UK and maintained a Band 3 ranking. Heath was highlighted for being active in disputes over the enforceability of finance agreements. A source noted that Heath “had a quick response time, was very helpful and knowledgeable, and is an expert in his field.”

James Channo, Co-Chair of the Firm’s International Transactions Practice Group, leading the Europe, Africa and Middle East section, was praised for being “extremely efficient and pragmatic,” maintaining a Band 4 ranking in Corporate/M&A: Mid-Market by Chambers UK. Channo, who has wide-ranging M&A experience in financial services, fintech, hotel and energy, was also noted for his considerable strengths in emerging markets work.

John Olsen, Chair of Locke Lord’s International IP Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Practice Group, was noted as being “exceptionally bright” and “very commercial” and maintained a Band 4 ranking in Intellectual Property. He was highlighted for his command of trademark law and recommended for litigation and transactional matters.

Additionally, London Partner David Grant was noted as a Recognised Practitioner in Restructuring/Insolvency by Chambers UK. The Firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group in London, led by Grant, was also highlighted as an Other Noted Firm.
