Michael Gaertner Quoted in Bloomberg Law on U.S. Supreme Court Ruling in TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods

After the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods, Chicago’s Michael Gaertner, a Partner in the Firm’s IP Pharmaceutical Practice Group, commented on the impact that the ruling would have on multi-defendant filings in patent cases. Gaertner noted: “Multi-district litigation may increase judicial efficiency through consolidated pre-trial case management. Multi-district litigation, however, arguably brings drawbacks of delay and inconsistent results at the trial phase because the statute requires that each individual case be remanded for trial to the courts where that case was filed originally.”
