Gerry Pels Comments on Energy Regulation and Legislation to Watch in 2017
January 2, 2017
Gerry Pels, Chair of the Firmwide Environmental Section - Energy and Industry, was recently quoted in a Law360 article on changes to watch in the coming year for energy policy. Pels addressed the D.C. Circuit’s current analysis of the legality of the Clean Power Plan (CPP) and the potential that the CPP may never be implemented. If the CPP is rescinded, there are new challenges according to Pels: "A recrafted rule would need to be supported by new technical analysis and new findings. It can’t be as simple as ‘we’re not going enforce those rules.' They’re on the books."
