(AUSTIN) March 23, 2016 – Austin Partner Cynthia Bast has been selected by the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association and Foundation (TCWLA/F) as the 2016 recipient of the Corporate/Transactional Attorney Award. Attorney award recipients are nominated by their peers and selected based on their contributions to the legal profession, their service to the local community, and the positive atmosphere they create in the workplace. Bast, who is nationally recognized as a preeminent lawyer in the area of affordable housing and community development finance, will receive the award at TCWLA/F’s Annual Grants & Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 20th.
Bast leads Locke Lord's Affordable Housing Section and also serves as Co-Chair of the Firm’s Board of Directors. She counsels clients developing affordable housing using federal and state tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, HUD programs, and other state and local sources. She also has vast experience in the preservation and restructuring of affordable housing properties following their initial compliance period. Bast is a recognized advocate on affordable housing matters with the Texas Legislature and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and a frequent speaker at industry conferences. She was previously awarded the Jean W. MacDonald Lifetime Achievement Award by Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers and is listed in Chambers USA for her Real Estate practice.
