March 24, 2015 – Chambers Global has released its 2015 rankings, naming four lawyers at Locke Lord LLP as leading practitioners in their respective practice areas. Locke Lord’s Privacy & Data Security Practice was recognized for excellence in the United States, with Chicago Of Counsel Tom Smedinghoff selected as an industry leader again in that category. Smedinghoff was described as a "go-to guy for privacy". He advises clients on cutting-edge issues in developing areas such as e-commerce, contributes to the development of public policy on cybersecurity and serves on State Department and United Nations committees.

Locke Lord earned recognition in the intellectual property categories in both the United States and the United Kingdom, with two lawyers achieving multiple consecutive rankings. New York Partner John Sweeney was ranked in Intellectual Property: Patent in the United States and London Partner John Olsen was ranked in Intellectual Property in the United Kingdom. Sweeney has extensive experience in patent, trade mark and trade secret litigation. Sweeney led the Locke Lord team that represented Volkswagen and Audi AG in its successful bid in Federal Circuit Court to stop infringement claims by Kruse Technology Partnership. With more than 30 years of experience in Intellectual Property Law and in particular trade mark law, 25 of those years practicing in Europe, Olsen advises clients on selection, acquisition, exploitation and enforcement of trade mark rights throughout the world. Olsen received feedback praising the "fantastic" quality of his work.

Houston Partner Scott Arrington was ranked in Projects in the United States, in a nod to his extensive international project development and acquisition and disposition experience. Arrington was commended for his knowledge of the oil and gas sector, with clients affirming that he is "very responsive" and is a "very, very talented lawyer”.
