Lauren Fincher will speak at the 2021 Government Law & Liability Conference on the "Conducting and Managing Internal Investigations" panel on December 14 from 1:00pm – 1:30pm.
State agencies may be called upon to conduct internal investigations from time to time. Agencies must exercise caution to ensure that internal investigations are conducted wisely from the beginning. This panel will address the most appropriate first steps an agency should take after learning of possible wrongdoing within the agency, when to use outside counsel to conduct an investigation, when to conduct an informal preliminary inquiry, and when to notify the board of directors. This panel will also address how to protect the integrity of an internal investigation and the confidentiality of privileged attorney-client communications and attorney work product in high-profile cases.
The Government Law & Liability Conference is designed specifically for government lawyers, general counsels, executive directors, commissioners and board members of state agencies. A distinguished panel of government lawyers, including members of executive administration of the OAG, will offer various perspectives on the most challenging legal issues facing state agencies today. This conference is intended to provide training on legal issues involving state government, including litigation risks and topics of particular interest to state officials.
