October 10, 2017 – Locke Lord’s UK Asset Finance & Leasing division, led by London Partner Joanne Davis, has been named the Top Asset Finance Team of the Year by Leasing World at its 2017 Leasing World Awards. The award follows many recent honors for the group, which was also recognised by the judges as the Leading Asset Finance Legal Team.
Now in their ninth year, the Leasing World Awards are well known and widely respected across the asset finance industry, recognising business growth, dynamism, innovation and good management. Judges commended the group for being “a leading team in the asset finance market, who are also great supporters of the industry.”
“We are proud that our outstanding Asset & Consumer Finance team has been recognised by Leasing World with this substantial honor,” said Firm Chair Jerry Clements. “This latest accolade highlights their significant contributions to the industry and our clients — helping them navigate the numerous regulatory changes on the horizon, build new instructions to support them, grow their business and be an integral part of their journey to success.”
The group was recently recognised by Chambers UK in its legal rankings and was noted for the ability to “take instruction well and approach matters with a refreshing commerciality.” The group was named runner-up by Leasing Life in the category for Asset Finance Legal Provider of the Year at its 2016 Leasing Life Europe Awards. Judges noted that Locke Lord has a “senior, heavy-weight team” and commended the amount of investment the team had put into thought leadership for the industry over the past year. Davis was named winner of the Leasing Contribution of the Year award at the 2016 Leasing World Awards. She was also recognised by Leasing Life and Motor Finance as one of the most influential people in the European motor and leasing industry on its Power 50 list.
Davis is a leading asset, consumer finance lawyer with a highly regarded practice. She is joined by Partner Kevin Heath, who leads the Firm’s UK banking litigation operation and has more than 25 years of experience in asset finance and consumer credit disputes. Other members of this substantial, well-rounded team, who are well-respected and recognisable to clients and other professionals within the industry, include Rachael Browning, Nicole Fry and Timothy Anson.
Locke Lord’s Asset Finance & Leasing and Consumer Finance division advises many of the largest financial services companies, including banks, mortgage companies, consumer lenders, loan servicers, credit card issuers, asset, motor finance and leasing companies, and retail credit providers across a wide range of matters. The team has advised UK and international businesses on the UK Consumer Credit Act and financial services legislation. The support that the team has given to funders in the small-to-medium enterprise space has been recognised across the industry.
