Locke Lord’s David Szabo to Receive Prestigious Award From the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association

May 12, 2016 – David Szabo, a Partner in Locke Lord’s Boston office and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Health Care practice, has been selected as the recipient of the Frederick T. Muncie Gold Founder Award on behalf of the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). This award is part of HFMA’s Founders Merit Award Series, which acknowledges the contributions made by HFMA members to the Chapter. Szabo and other honorees will be recognized tonight at the “Annual Social & Awards Night” at the Downtown Harvard Club in Boston.

“Dave has been a tireless and devoted part of this organization for more than 30 years,” said Timothy Hogan, president of the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter of HFMA. “His vast experience in the health care field has helped us tremendously. We are thrilled to present him with this award.”

Szabo has been an active member of the Chapter since 1983, and has also served as a Board Member. Among his other honors, Szabo has been recognized by Chambers USA from 2011-2015 and The Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law in 2016.

“I am humbled and honored,” Szabo said. “This is an important organization and it's been wonderful to work so closely with the Chapter and its initiatives.”

Szabo regularly represents hospitals, integrated delivery systems, physician organizations, home care companies, and other healthcare service providers. He also represents healthcare information technology companies and health plans. Szabo has extensive experience in healthcare licensing and regulation, reimbursement, fraud and abuse compliance matters, and the structuring of joint ventures. His practice also includes the privacy and information security law applicable to healthcare providers, health plans, technology vendors, and other organizations.
