Rory Miller is the Firm's Head of Private Equity Litigation for California and handles a variety of business, antitrust and intellectual property disputes from pre-litigation through trial and appeal in courts across the country. He has represented individuals to Fortune 100 companies and has experience with the legal needs of a wide range of industries, including private equity, biotechnology, finance and insurance, entertainment, fashion and manufacturing.

Rory’s representative experience includes:
- Represented William H. Gross in litigation against his former company PIMCO. Obtained a substantial confidential settlement
- Lead counsel for an insurance broker accused of malpractice in the placement of substantial insurance policies. Defeated summary judgment and excluded all evidence of plaintiff’s damages from trial, resulting in settlement for substantially less than the cost of defense
- Lead counsel in several matters involving international contracts and trade with foreign state-owned enterprises addressing questions of sovereign immunity and the act of state doctrine
- Represented a Fortune 500 company in a $12 billion antitrust action. Member of trial team that secured a defense jury verdict
- Represented a major private equity firm in litigation arising from its distressed company investment portfolio
- Represented biotechnology company accused of infringing patents governing genetic testing for a hereditary disorder. Obtained summary judgment invalidating the patents that was affirmed by the Federal Circuit
- Represented a major insurer in connection with claims arising from reinsurance obligations and the 2008 market crash. Secured dismissal of the complaint
- Represented purchaser of a privately held corporation in litigation against the seller for fraudulent misrepresentations during due diligence
- Represented minority shareholder of fashion joint venture in connection with intellectual property and corporate control disputes
- Represented biotechnology company and university in litigation over patents for automated DNA sequencing machines
