August Melcher concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation centering on Hatch-Waxman litigation with experience in general patent litigation, trade secrets litigation and civil rights litigation. Experience includes pre-litigation regulatory activities, Paragraph IV certifications and notice letters, invalidity and non-infringement contentions, review and production of electronically stored information, written discovery, fact and expert witness depositions, expert discovery, trial and appeals as well as dispositive, preliminary injunction and appellate motion practice.

Prior to joining the Firm, he served as a legal intern to the NYU Office of Industrial Liaison, where he gained experience in patent prosecution, strategic counseling, portfolio management and contract review.
August also has prior experience serving as a researcher and instructor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Chemistry, where he performed high-performance computing research involving simulations of chemical systems designed to help chemists, chemical engineers and biomolecular engineers understand state-of-the-art experiments and taught organic chemistry.
