Chris Boeck has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, including commercial and consumer finance, intellectual property, oil and gas and business contract litigation. He has substantial experience on the plaintiff and defense sides in arbitration, state and federal trial courts, and on appeal — before the Dallas Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.

Chris also dedicates a substantial portion of his practice to providing commercial and regulatory guidance to clients in the firearms industry, including compliance with the National Firearms Act, Gun Control Act and ATF guidelines.

In addition, Chris assists clients with state tax litigation matters, including commercial property tax appeals and defense of tax lien foreclosure actions, including tax litigation matters involving pipelines, power plants and high-value aircraft, among other things.

Chris has experience in:

Complex Commercial Litigation

  • Obtained a multimillion-dollar federal jury verdict in favor of a Moroccan mining company in contract litigation involving the failures of giant-sized industrial tires
  • Prosecuted claims for breach of contract pertaining to multimillion-dollar telecommunications service contract
  • Defended construction companies and sureties in multi-party litigation involving claims between general contractor, subcontractors, second-tier subcontractors and surety company
  • Experience litigating and negotiating complex indemnification and release matters

Firearms Industry Guidance and Litigation

  • Provide commercial and regulatory guidance to manufacturers, distributors and retailers of firearms, including NFA-regulated firearms
  • Coordinate with state and federal lobbying teams to provide guidance and impact to legislative and regulatory matters critical to the firearms industry
  • Serve as outside general counsel to firearms businesses on the manufacturing, distribution and retail sides

Commercial and Consumer Finance

  • Experienced in defense of consumer finance class actions, including class claims under the FDCPA and “lender-placed insurance” lawsuits
  • Represent mortgage lenders and servicers in state and federal court in individual and putative class-action litigation, involving breach of contract, tort, TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, FCRA, unfair and deceptive practices and mortgage-fraud litigation
  • Prosecute and defend claims pertaining to sale of large secured-loan portfolios
  • Represent lenders in secured finance litigation, including actions for sequestration and replevin of collateral, such as automotive fleets and high-value medical equipment

Tax Litigation

  • Prosecute appeals of Texas commercial property tax protest actions
  • Defend against tax lien foreclosure actions
  • Litigation pertaining to property tax exemption status in various contexts

Intellectual Property Litigation and Trademark Prosecution

  • Prosecute and defend civil litigation for clients involving trademark, copyright, cyber-piracy, false advertising and defamation claims
  • Prosecute trademark applications and appeals to TTAB
