The article outlines the guidance issued by various federal agencies and state bodies related to the expanded use of telemedicine and important issues for payors and providers to consider.

    The authors suggest adopting certain best practices and recommendations to ensure compliance, including frequently checking guidance for updates, obtaining proper consent from patients, carefully reviewing requirements to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth, complying with the scope of a provider’s license and reviewing recordkeeping requirements.
