Chicago Partner David Standa authored an article examining early trends in states that have begun collecting tax revenue from legalizing recreational marijuana. Standa observes Nevada and Colorado have gotten it right, demonstrating taxes from marijuana can provide significant boosts to state budgets. However, getting it right is difficult – government budget forecasts skew high, and the illicit marijuana market poses challenges.
