The Hartford InsurTech Hub (the Hub) was established in 2018 to attract new talent and technology to Hartford, CT, one of the world’s leading insurance centers. Backed by Startupbootcamp, which was founded in Copenhagen in 2010 with the mission of supporting the world’s best entrepreneurs through all stages of their growth, the Hub was created by a group of executives from the Hartford area, including insurers and related firms, representatives from the City of Hartford and community organizations.
The aim of the Hub is to provide entrepreneurs with the support, resources, and industry and investor connections they need to help grow their business and to build a culture of innovation leveraging international entrepreneurs in Hartford, while developing a local innovation ecosystem supported by local resources, capabilities and talent, in which insurance technology startups can grow and flourish.
Twenty-two startups were invited to the first Selection Days held at Upward Hartford on November 27-29. A Locke Lord team of lawyers from the Firm’s Hartford and Chicago offices was part of the Selection Team which interviewed and provided expertise toward the selection of the companies that will move forward to the accelerator. Of the 22 startups, 10 were chosen to join a three-month accelerator program beginning on February 4, 2019.
Locke Lord looks forward to working with the Hartford InsurTech Hub in the new year, in particular with the cohort starting in February.
