Support for the European Union on the rise
November 22, 2016

A post Brexit survey suggests that if the UK held another referendum today the “Remain Campaign” would win. According to the study, approval for EU membership has increased by 7% since 23 June 2016. EU approval ratings rose across the major European Member States including, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Poland with the exception of Spain which reduced from 71% to 69% approval, still very much in favour of a UK remain vote. It has been argued in a Financial Times report that the advantages of EU membership may have only started to become apparent to some UK voters following the Brexit referendum result date. This may have been fuelled by further Brexit uncertainty following recent indications from British Prime Minister, Theresa May, of a proposed ”transitional Brexit deal”, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.
