The Prime Minister, Theresa May, has comforted UK businesses by saying there will be no sudden change in business rules in relation to the transitional period of Brexit. Lobby groups have instigated various proposals regarding how UK businesses will run during these negotiation stages. Mrs May confirmed acknowledgement of these plans and stated that the proposals will form part of Government discussions between the UK and the European Union. Mrs May also advised that she was happy to provide clarity on the Government’s Brexit plans but not a “running commentary”. Downing Street would not confirm whether it had formally devised a transitional Brexit deal to cover the period between the UK’s departure from the EU and the start of a new trade deal however confirmed that this period has been clearly expressed as an area of concern by UK businesses and therefore will provide more clarity in the future.
