Donald Tusk warns of ‘hard Brexit’ or ‘no Brexit’

European Council President Donald Tusk has confirmed that Britain would either need to agree to the free movement of people from the European Union or lose access to the single market. Mr Tusk, who will chair the upcoming meetings between EU leaders with the aim of negotiating a Brexit strategy, warned that Britain could not simply “have the EU cake and eat it too”. Mr Tusk suggested that Britain may not ultimately decide to leave the EU, although admitted that this decision would be Britain’s alone.
