Locke Lord Cannabis Blog Quoted by The Post and Courier on United Cannabis’ Case for Federal Bankruptcy Protection

    Articles

A Locke Lord Cannabis Blog post co-authored by Partners David Standa, Brian Raynor, Brad Knapp and Simon Fleischmann was quoted by The Post and Courier in its coverage of a planned hemp processing site in Ridgeville, S.C. United Cannabis Corp., one of the original partners in the project, is currently seeking bankruptcy protection.

The article notes businesses considered illegal by the federal government don’t qualify for such federal protection, and United Cannabis is currently tasked with proving its operations consist only of federally legal products such as hemp and CBD.

If United Cannabis “has truly moved out of operations related to marijuana and THC, then this case should be allowed to proceed,” the authors write. Based on court filings to date, “it seems unlikely that things are that straightforward,” they added.
