– Locke Lord Partner and President of the American Bar Association (ABA) Paulette Brown
received the 2016 Howard University Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in the field of law on Saturday at the school’s 92nd annual Charter Day Dinner. Brown was one of four distinguished alumni honored for exceptional achievements in their respective field.
Brown, a Labor and Employment Partner based in Locke Lord’s Morristown office and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, is the first woman of color elected to the top post in the ABA's history. For nearly 40 years, Brown has focused her practice on all facets of labor and employment and commercial litigation. She is also nationally known for speaking out to eliminate bias in the U.S. legal system and advocating for the advancement of diverse lawyers.
This year’s Charter Day marked the 149th anniversary of the charter that established Howard University. Brown earned her B.A. from Howard University in 1973.
