On November 19, 2014, Edwards Wildman's Providence office hosted a Style Up presentation that was attended by over 80 students from Year Up Providence. Style Up is a Rhode Island non-profit corporation that was started by a group of attorneys in the Providence office to provide professional clothing and related training to disadvantaged young adults entering the workforce. For the past several years, Style Up has partnered with Year Up Providence, an organization that provides low-income young adults with classroom training and corporate internships. During the event, which was sponsored by the firm’s Diversity Committee, a panel of Edwards Wildman professionals spoke with the Year Up students about professional dress, the importance of making a good first impression, and other related topics. The students then had the opportunity to select from Style Up’s inventory of donated clothes and to practice their networking skills by interacting with members of the firm. The panel included Krystle Tadesse, Courtney Jones, and Natalie Leonard. Alison Furness and Lorraine Parent were also invaluable in making the event a success.
