Edwards Wildman Chicago Associates Participate in 'Rate My Pitch' Program
On October 23, Edwards Wildman's Chicago office hosted the third and final session of a professional development program called “Rate My Pitch,” presented by the Chicago Committee for Minorities in Large Law Firms. The program was offered to 20 mid- and senior-level associates in Chicago Committee member firms.
The workshop provided instruction for the skills and behaviors required for building successful business relationships. Associate participants were assigned to teams to practice scenarios that mimic real life encounters, from taking a partner/practice group leader to lunch through making a formal pitch to a real panel of in-house counsel in response to a mock RFQ for legal services.
In Session III the associates in teams of five presented their pitch in response to the mock RFQ for legal services before a panel of in-house counsel. The in-house counsel who volunteered for the program were from W. W. Grainger, Inc., Anixter International, Exelon, and The Warranty Group. Associates were evaluated based on their professional presence, substantive competence, empathy, and effective communication.
