May 8, 2014 -- Edwards Wildman acted as disclosure counsel to Miami-Dade County, Florida in connection with the issuance of the County’s $201 million bond issue which financed a 180 million contribution to a public-private partnership (P3) to finance the Port Tunnel Project. The Port Tunnel is scheduled to open this month, and will be managed by Mat Concessionaire, LLC, for a 35-year term. The Port Tunnel Project, which was initially financed in 2009, will revert to the Florida Department of Transportation in 2044.
Rick Miller of Edwards Wildman’s West Palm Beach office led the team, assisted by Mark-David Adams. The bond issue will also finance additional improvements to the Seaport, including certain projects necessary to accommodate increased shipping volume in anticipation of the expansion of the Panama Canal.
