May 7, 2014 - Locke Lord LLP on Thursday will host approximately 60 high school sophomores from the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet at the Townview Magnet Center as part of the Firm’s participation in the Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program, a partnership with Street Law, Inc. and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
The field trip, which the media is invited to attend, is part of a program that partners corporate legal departments with diverse high school law classes to increase students’ knowledge and interest in the law. The day will include a conference for the students where they will participate in workshops and learn more about careers in the legal profession.
Locke Lord Partner Art Anthony, Co-Chair of the Firm's Pro Bono Services Committee and member of the Firm's Board of Directors, will be keynote speaker for the event. Closing remarks will be made by Associate Amy Gremminger White, who has served as an E-Mentor at Townview Magnet Center through a partnership between the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Independent School District. Abigail B. Moore, a Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group worked with the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel to coordinate the event.
The program is organized through Street Law, a nonprofit that creates classroom and community programs to teach about law, democracy and human rights worldwide. Program participants benefit from “real-life” lessons and insights, which they can use to effect positive change.
