Texas Lawyer this week announced it has selected Locke Lord as its 2014 Litigation Department of the Year – the top large law firm in the general litigation category.

Last year, Locke Lord was named as a finalist for this award.

Texas Lawyer asked law firms to share significant victories and important cases led by Texas-based lawyers, that demonstrated why clients select them for litigation representation. Locke Lord, with more than 125 highly skilled litigators in Texas alone and almost 300 Firm-wide, was designated as the No. 1 choice.

“Our accomplished trial lawyers work for clients around the world and across all industries, in complex litigation matters, said Locke Lord Chair Jerry Clements. “This recognition highlights successes achieved on behalf of our clients in both trial and appellate courts, and for that, we are very proud.”

The Firm had a number of notable litigation victories in 2013, including a favorable ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States in Atlantic Marine Construction Company, Inc. v. J-Crew Management, Inc. The precedent-setting opinion resolved circuit splits regarding the validity of forum-selection clauses in business contracts.

The Firm will be profiled in Texas Lawyer’s 2014 Litigation Departments of the Year supplement, which is scheduled for publication on June 2.

Locke Lord consistently ranks among American Lawyer’s top 100 U.S. law firms. The Firm’s full range of practice and industry areas serve national and international clients from offices in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Sacramento, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. It has an excellent reputation in complex litigation, regulatory and transactional work, with its 650-plus lawyers building collaborative relationships and crafting creative solutions – all designed and executed to meet clients’ long-term strategic goals.
