Julie Mahaney, a Hartford-based associate in Edwards Wildman's
Insurance and Reinsurance Department, has been recognized as a "New Leader in the Law
" by the Connecticut Law Tribune. Mahaney was selected from over 300 nominees for the Constitution state's legal stars under the age of 40 for her achievements in legal work, pro bono efforts, and community involvement. A skilled insurance regulatory and transactional lawyer, Mahaney advises clients in all sectors of the insurance and financial services industries on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law governance, and insurance regulatory compliance. In addition, she dedicates considerable time and efforts to her pro bono practice and community service, including a win in an asylum case for a Bosnian woman who was a victim of domestic violence because of her religious affiliation. Before attending law school, Mahaney taught elementary school in the Bronx as a teaching fellow, where she also coached basketball and track, and volunteered as a tutor.
