Edwards Wildman's Stan Keller Addresses Third-Party Opinion Letters, Reports BNA Bloomberg Corporate Law & Accountability Report

    News
Stan Keller, a Business Law partner in Edwards Wildman's Boston office, commented on the pitfalls of third-party opinion letters as a panelist at the 2013 Aon Law Firm Symposium, reported BNA Bloomberg Corporate Law & Accountability Report. In the article, "Speakers Detail Considerable Complications from Attorneys' Third-Party Opinion Letters," Keller said, "Small firms tend to trust each other. Almost all large law firms [of more than 50 lawyers] had legal opinion committees." According to Keller, the committees' functions varied greatly among firms, ranging from reviewing opinions before delivery to setting standards for their preparation to simply acting as a firm resource when requested.
