May 6, 2013 – International law firm Locke Lord continues to improve upon its global capabilities and expanded profile through the addition of several lawyers and a litigation practice to its Hong Kong office. Three lawyers – all Of Counsel – have joined Locke Lord's international office in Hong Kong recently, making a team of 11 experienced Locke Lord lawyers on the ground in Asia who provide depth and breadth in banking and finance, corporate, commercial litigation and dispute resolution, mergers and acquisition work.

The new lawyers join five Partners who became associated with Locke Lord in March: Balbir Bindra, Wing Cheung, Alfred Lee, Tej Mahil and Matthew Wong formed the initial core team of Locke Lord's expanded Hong Kong presence. Of Counsel King Hui and Roger Wong also joined the office within the last few weeks. The Hong Kong solicitors will collaborate with Locke Lord's 34-member London team as well as with the Firm's 11 U.S. offices to serve an increasingly global marketplace.

"Already our Hong Kong office is well-established and integrated with Firm offices in the United States and London," said Balbir Bindra, Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office. "Each well-chosen lawyer we add brings additional capabilities to our worldwide team, and our client service improves with each lateral hire."

Additional new Hong Kong lawyers who join Locke Lord from K&L Gates include:

    • Of Counsel King Hui focuses his practice in corporate/commercial, litigation and property. His wide-ranging experience in commercial matters includes advising both public and private companies with fundraising, debt restructuring, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and immigration matters.
    • Of Counsel Roger Wong is focused on corporate/commercial and company secretarial matters. He is experienced in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, matters concerning the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance and company secretarial matters, loan transactions and general commercial transactions.

"Our growing Hong Kong office brings a new dimension to our already strong international capabilities in banking and finance, corporate and commercial litigation practices," said Firm Chair Jerry Clements. "Our clients know they can count on us anywhere in the world. The Asian legal market is very busy and active, and we have the right lawyers with the right experience to handle all types of work."

‎Locke Lord's Hong Kong team will work closely with the Firm's established Asia and China practice, which includes U.S.-based lawyers who are already familiar with the Asian market and culture and many of whom speak the native languages. Locke Lord opened its Hong Kong office in January 2011 to provide needed services to U.S.-based clients working in Asia and to Asian-based clients with interests in the United States.
