Edwards Wildman's Brian Green Analyzes Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (Tria) Extension in Reactions

    News
Brian Green, an attorney in Edwards Wildman's Insurance and Reinsurance Department in New York, discussed how three separate bills have been put before the US House of Representatives calling for an extension of Tria in Reactions. In the article, "Tria Bills Positive, Action in Short Term Unlikely," Green said, "I think that many people have viewed terrorism as a New York issue and a Northeast issue and when you look at statistics of people who are purchasing terrorism insurance, it’s much higher in the Northeast than in other parts of the country. I do think that it is interesting to see [a Southern congressman proposing an extension] but Congressman Thompson is the ranking Democratic member of the homeland security committee so he is more in tune with these issues probably than many of his peers and colleagues in Congress are. But it is a positive sign to see that somebody outside on New York and now Boston is concerned about the risk and realises that this is something that needs to be addressed.”
